France fines British Easyjet 60,000 euros over discrimination

A French court on Thursday fined British budget airline Easyjet 60,000 euros for refusing to let a disabled woman fly unaccompanied to her son's funeral. The 65 year-old woman - who is paralysed on one side - filed a suit as she has been prevented from travelling to Portugal, in October 2009, because she was travelling alone. It is the second time the airline is fined over discrimination this year.It had ordered the wheelchair-bound woman to get off a Paris-Nice flight, arguing that she could not reach the emergency exit without assistance. The court on Thursday also slapped a 30,000 euro fine on Europe Handling, a company hired by Easyjet to carry out passengers registrations in Paris.
Persuasive:
I agree that the court fined the airline. Discrimination can be a kind of hurt for the people. That can be a trauma and can affect their present and future life. I think the court should let the airline compensate the woman for mental treatment. Through this incident, I felt that France is the country that respects human rights. I think our country need to learn this kind of things from them.

France: Mom kills kindergarten teacher in class
Summary:
The mother of a pupil at a French pre-school stabbed a teacher to death in front of her class. French President Francois Hollande expressed outrage at the attack at the Edouard Herriot school in Albi in southern France. Education Minister Benoit Hamon traveled immediately to the school, and told reporters that the mother of a pupil "committed this abominable act in a class against a remarkable teacher." France still feels scars from a shooting at a Jewish school in Toulouse in southern France in 2012 that left three children and a rabbi dead.
Persuasive:
From this accident, I feel that the society needs a care system of the human mind which are emotions, scars etc. In modern society, many people are suffered from mental disease such as depression, insomnia. If this kind of disease become worse, terrible accident like this accident occurs. Also, the unreasonable society structure which cause stress which lead to mental disease should be improved. That's right that the criminals do bad things, but also that they are poor and marginal people of the society.

France allows employers to ban wine in offices
Summary:
The traditional Gallic "pot" – a convivial office drinks party – may be a thing of the past after the French government on Thursday allowed employers to ban wine from the workplace. The government had so far exempted wine and cider from the list of alcoholic drinks that employers could ban in offices. Wine has now been added to the list of alcoholic drinks the government says could "threaten the security and the physical and mental well-being of workers.”
Persuasive:
I think the decicion of the government is right. I know drinking is not always bad. But people don't use it always good. Some people regard controling the amount of drink is hard. So people need some regulations for them. This restriction will have bad effect right immediately. But I guess it will be better as time goes by. It will be helpful for the employees health.
